The book “Memorable Serbs” by Željko Fajfrić, published in Novi Sad in 2023 by a group of publishers and co-publishers (Serbian Cultural Circle Novi Sad and Bijeljina, the Government of the Republic of Srpska, and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia), is a valuable attempt to compile distinguished Serbs in one place, presenting their biographies as well as their life achievements.
The book includes 107 personalities, and in the Foreword, Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Dr. Dragomir Sango says:
“The ‘Memorable Serbs’ is a rosary of venerable Serbs, from Stefan Nemanja to Sava Šumanović. This historical and spiritual reminder has been written based on the research of the archive documents and literature. Because of that, it conforms to the life and document. Such degree of the renewed, validated quest of the past may be reached only if there is a big knowledge about the general and natural historical context and spiritual framework. Based on various and multi-layered historical facts and sources, the author has managed to consolidate the autchentic biographies of the Serbian elite in time.”
Biography of the Author:
The author, Dr. Željko Fajfrić, was born in Šid on February 24, 1957.
He completed primary school and grammar school in Šid. At the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad, he graduated in 1979 and obtained his master’s degree in 1990.
At the Faculty of Law, University of Kragujevac, he obtained his doctorate in 1994, while he defended his second doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade in 2000.
He has published several books in the fields of local history and Serbian national history, as well as several books following his travels through Palestine.
He lives and works in Šid.
